Trip info:

One of the best spots for sea kayaking in Crete and maybe the only one fully protected from the winds! 

Itinerary:

The trip officially begins in the morning at the Heraklion where our staff will meet you. Exact meeting time will be determined once booking have been finalized. From the Heraklion city, we will head to Moires city and then to Faneromeni lake. The whole journey will take around an hour and a half. We will review the itinerary for the day and answer whatever questions you may have during the trip or as soon as we arrive in Faneromeni lake.

You will need to have with you your breakfast or if you have time to get your breakfast in your hotel before the departure in the morning. If the group has no experience in sea kayaking at all, we will stop first on a beach to offer basic kayaking insruction. This is happening due to the water been very cold in the lake (around 8oC during the winter and 15-16 during the summer). As soon as we arrive in Faneromeni lake we will outfit everyone with paddle, PFD and sprayskirt, then head across to the entry point where we will start paddling. The perimeter of the lake is around 7km (around 4.5 miles) in a unique environement (see photo gallery on the bottom of the page) with super view.

It is ideal for photographers and also for bird watching. We will cover around 15km around the lake by our sea kayaks (2-3 hours).

As we going back in Heraklion we can make a lunch stop if the group wishes to a local restaurant (called taverna) near to Faneromeni lake.
