The guardian newspaper included our multi day trip as one of the best 10 activity holidays in the world!
An overview of the trips
Kayak day trips is the best way to explore a large part of the island. We offer 10 sea kayak day trips plus one sunset (2.5 hours) while on the majority of them we have the option to choose between two different directions/routes based on weather and group experience. Kayaking in Chania (western Crete), Rethimno (Central Crete), Heraklio (Central Crete) or Lasithi (Eastern Crete) region with the best equipment that you can find in Greece and one of the best in Europe.
Kayak Eastern Crete
Excitement is guaranteed on this expedition! Strong winds are common on this trip and you need to be very comfortable paddling in at least force 4 winds. You need to be close to 4* skills (based on British Canoeing) to join this trip. You don’t need to hold any certification, just be sure that your skills are up to that level.
Kayak South West
An excellent trip that gives you the chance to paddle in one of the most amazing coastlines of Crete including the coast next to the famous Samaria gorge. The scenery of the trip is outstanding. We will visit some beaches that for years been in the top 50 in the world in various travel guides like the Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor. Not to be missed.
Samaria National Park
Samaria is a two days sea kayak trip that takes place within the Samaria national park in an absolutely stunning sea kayaking environment. No previous experience is required. You need to be in good fit and not more than 105kg (that is the limit on weight in the hull of our boats regarding stability).
South Central Crete
An excellent trip that gives you the chance to paddle in one of the most amazing coastlines of Crete. Part of the trip includes an open crossing to Paksimadia islands (14km).
Overnight in tents.
Eastern Peloponnese
This is an ideal trip for people without strong experience in sea kayaking as the area that we will paddle is one of the calmest in Greece. Warm water year round. Paddlers very new to the sport are more than welcome. There will be enough time for practising rescues & coaching as well.
Overnight in tents.
Sailing & Sea Kayaking
Our sailing boat and sea kayaking multi-day trip has been designed for active and independent sea kayakers who want to combine the ultimate sailing & kayaking trip in one trip. We can run the trip from April to late October.
Level 1 Sea Kayak Course
The aim of the course is to provide you with the necessary skills to paddle any sea kayak with safety. The course is suitable for people without any paddling experience or with limited experience seeking a proper way to learn and improve their skills. During the course you will have the chance to do a nice journey while practicing along the way.
The aim of the course is to learn the basics properly as poor paddling skills can lead to serious injuries.
Kalyves
This trip is located just a few minutes away from Chania town in west Crete. If the group has no or limited experience with sea kayaks it will be a shorter distance (about 15 km) in a less exposed coastline. Experienced paddlers will be able to do a linear trip starting from Kalyves and ending in Georgioupoli village (27 km). To join the longer trip your skills need to be at 3* level (based on British Canoeing) or higher as it is getting fairly rough outside the Souda bay and cape Drapano.
Kayak Sporades
Sporades Island hopping at its best! The Sporades is a group of Greek islands in the northwest Aegean sea. The longest crossing on the trip is more or less 12 km; you don’t need to have experience in open crossings but you do need to be able to paddle 2-3 hours without landing.
Eskimo Roll Course
All rolling sessions take place a few km outside of Heraklion city and or via our base in south Chania at Ilingas beach during May-September.
Water temperature is at its lowest around 15oC during the winter and up to 27oC during the summer.
Level 2 Sea Kayaking Course
Successful performance at this level indicates that a candidate has the personal skill level to paddle single or multi-day journeys in a moderate water environment with winds not exceeding Beaufort Force 5.
