Four-Days Coaching & Sea Kayak

Four-Days Coaching & Sea Kayak

This trip combines professional sea kayak coaching with a beautiful journey along Crete’s wild southwest coastline.

During the first two days, we stay in one area and focus intensively on technique, safety, and confidence on the water. During the last two days, we put everything into practice while travelling from Chora Sfakion to Agia Roumeli and back (~50 km).
Expect spectacular scenery, quiet beaches, turquoise waters, and real skill development every day.
No previous kayaking experience is required.
If you are motivated to learn, you are welcome.
Single composite sea kayaks and carbon paddles are available throughout the course.

Accommodation

Three overnight stays are included in the price, with breakfast.

We stay in simple local apartments near the sea during the coaching part of the trip.
Rooms are shared unless a private option is arranged in advance.
Because this is also a journey, the exact overnight location during the final days may vary depending on weather and group pace.

Experience Needed

No prior experience is necessary.
This program is designed to teach you from the beginning and gradually build your abilities.

We work on:

  • efficient forward paddling
  • steering & boat control
  • balance and edging
  • safety & group travel techniques
  • expedition mindset
  • self and assisted rescues
  • basic chart navigation
  • personal skills development

By the end of the trip, you will be able to paddle confidently as part of a team.
This journey is ideal both for newcomers and for paddlers who already have experience but lack formal training.
Small habits, posture, blade entry, energy management, and group awareness can dramatically improve performance.
With a small team, we can reshape the program on the go and focus on what will benefit you the most.

Group Size

Minimum participants: 3
Maximum participants: 6

Small groups allow us to give personal coaching and individual feedback throughout the journey.
During the day we either stop at small tavernas, or you may bring snacks with you.
Water refills will be available during the trip.

Luggage and storage

Pack your trip essentials in multiple small dry bags (10–15L) and place them in a suitcase or rucksack.
You can leave the larger bag at a hotel near our base.

If you need an extra dry bag, please get in touch.

Arrival and departure

We meet at our base on Ilingas Beach at 10:00 AM.
There is plenty of secure (and free) parking if you are traveling by car.

You should arrive in Chania or Heraklion the day before. The closest airport with a bus connection is Chania.

During the summer months, there is a daily bus arriving just before 10:00 AM in Chora Sfakion, a village only two minutes away by car.
If you don’t have a car, call us and we’ll be happy to pick you up.

On the last day, we return to Ilingas Beach in the early evening (around 4 PM).
You will have enough time to catch the bus back to Chania (departure around 7 PM) or stay overnight nearby.

We will always inform you by email if anything changes due to weather.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation and breakfast are included.

There are several tavernas along the way where you can enjoy dinner.
We may also stop for lunch during the paddle, or you can bring your own.

You only need snacks for the day and water.
There’s no need to carry more than 2 litres, as we can refill when necessary.

Is this only for beginners?

Not at all.

Many of our guests have been paddling for years without ever attending a structured course.
We adapt the coaching level according to the group and introduce more advanced techniques whenever appropriate.
