Sunset Sea Kayak Trip

Our Sunset Sea Kayak Trip is available throughout the summer months, offering two departure options:

Evening: 17:00–19:30 (standard)
Morning: upon request (depending on schedule & availability)

Experience the golden light of the Cretan sunset — or the calm serenity of an early morning — in one of the most beautiful locations on the island: the coastline near Samaria National Park.

Although we normally start from our kayak base at Ilingas Beach, alternative locations may be arranged upon request, such as Rethymno, Heraklion, or Eastern Crete (up to Agios Nikolaos), depending on logistics.

Overview of the Trip

We run the Sunset Trip daily from June to mid-September from our base at Ilingas Beach, just outside Chora Sfakion.
A minimum of 4 participants is required.

Please arrive 10 minutes early

Morning departures may be available during periods with shorter daylight or on request if no other trips are scheduled.
The trip can also be arranged during winter for groups of 4+ participants.

What should I bring?

You will need:

Approximately 1 liters of water
Hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
Swimsuit & lycra / UV-protective shirt
Light footwear (neoprene shoes recommended)

Footwear:
Footwear that you don’t mind getting wet is recommended, as you will be walking through water. Lightweight neoprene shoes are ideal. While wearing shoes is not mandatory, they are helpful since most of the beaches are covered with small pebbles.

✅ Dry bags will be provided for storing your phone and other valuables.

Where do we meet?

Ilingas Beach, about 2 km west of Chora Sfakion.

How do I book?

Please use the “Reserve your spot” button at the top of this page to access our booking form or click this link.
After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email within 1–2 days (often the same day).

Payment Options

Cash: Pay on the day of the trip
Credit Card: Pay online during checkout. Card payment is not possible on site, and the booking is not confirmed until the online payment is completed.

This is necessary because there is very limited mobile signal and no reliable internet connection on the beach. I also don’t have an office there—only a kayak rack—and I usually have wet hands, making card payments impractical on site.

Please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Schedules may change slightly depending on season and weather.

Do you provide transfers?

❌ No transfers are provided for this trip.
You must meet us directly at Ilingas Beach.

If you travel by bus from Chania, the arrival time matches our start.

Do you run this trip year-round?

Yes — for groups of 4 or more participants.

For smaller groups, the trip is available from April to October.

Weight limitations?

Single Kayaks

✅ Recommended up to 105 kg

Tandem (Double) Kayaks

✅ Can accommodate paddlers up to 105–107 kg
⚠️ Cockpit design often does not comfortably fit paddlers over 105 kg

If your weight exceeds 105 kg, a trial may be required. In some cases, paddling may be impractical or uncomfortable due to restricted legroom and stability limitations.
