How to Choose the Right Sea Kayaking Day Trip in Crete
Choosing the right sea kayaking trip in Crete depends on your experience, fitness, comfort level in the water, and where you are staying. This guide will help you understand the differences between the various routes we offer so you can select the one that suits you best.
🏖️ Staying Near Chania or Rethymno?
The best option is our Sfakia–Loutro trip, starting from Ilingas Beach near Chora Sfakion. We can run 2 different trips from the same location depending the weather so a great option if you wish to overnight there. Sfakia region is the least populated region in Crete and spertacular for sea kayaking.
Why?
- Crystal-clear turquoise water
- Sea caves
- Very short or long routes depending on the group
- Great snorkeling
- Usually calm conditions
- Suitable for beginners & families
- Endless scenic coastline
This is our most popular and most flexible day trip. Visit the Sfakia trip for more details.

🌅 Want Something Short & Relaxing?
Choose the Sunset Kayak Trip from Ilingas Beach.
- Easy
- Beautiful afternoon light
- Great for couples & families
- No experience required
Runs most of the days in summer. More details about this trip in this link.

🌊 Staying in Heraklion Area?
Two great options:
- Ligaria – Mades – Fodele area (north coast; calm mornings)
- Agia Galini or Kokkinos Pirgos (south coast; depends on weather)
Both routes are suitable for more experienced paddlers as they are more exposed to wind and waves.
We list only Agia Galini trip in our web site but we are happy to run a custom trip in Heraklion region weather permitting. Please get in touch with us to arrange this.
🏝️ Staying in Elounda, Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra?
Choose Eastern Crete Day Trips.
These are perfect only for very experienced paddlers as it gets too windy during the summer.
